Christopher Miller
April 26, 1969 – October 18, 2023
The LSC Annual Swim for Strength is in memory of Chris Miller, loving father and dedicated swim dad to Anika Weedon-Miller, an LSC swim team member and lifeguard.
It was fatherhood that defined Chris more than any job ever could. He was unwavering in his love and devotion to Anika: he was her swim dad, her triathlon coach, her Wednesday and Friday night dinner date, her Saturday adventure buddy, her favorite chef. Chris delighted in making Anika’s favorite meals, cheering her on at swim meets, taking her to see live music, hiking together with Luna the cockapoo, and playing with Anika and her cousins at the shore.
Chris brought purpose and attention to detail in everything he did. He was known for his culinary skills—an expert baker of sourdough bread, and a skilled chef who recreated restaurant-quality meals at home. Chris was a talented landscape photographer, always searching for the perfect shot when he traveled. He was an exceptional athlete, excelling in every sport he took up: swimming, cycling, running triathlons, skiing, soccer, baseball, and golf. He remained in superb physical condition throughout his life, often waking before dawn to train. He also meticulously taught himself to play the guitar, becoming a gifted musician.
Chris loved all kinds of music, and was an especially loyal Rush fan, attending dozens of their concerts. He loved sports—especially the Phillies and the Denver Broncos—and orange became his signature color in honor of his team.
In addition to being the devoted father of Anika, Chris was the beloved son of Dr. Robert and Frances Miller, cherished brother of Susan Miller and Sharon Domenico, and dedicated co-parent with Hanne Weedon.
Raised in Haddonfield, NJ, Chris graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School and later attended the University of Delaware, where he played on the golf team. He went on to earn a master’s degree in turf management from Michigan State University. In his early 30’s, Chris transitioned into a career in IT, working in management at tech and pharmaceutical companies in the Boston and Philadelphia areas, most recently at Takeda.
A quiet, thoughtful, and kind man, Chris had a sharp, dry sense of humor and a generous spirit. He was deeply loyal, maintaining lifelong connections with many. A handful of best friends were lucky enough to consider him family. Chris was a strong co-parent with Anika’s mom, Hanne, working with intention and care to raise their daughter together in the decade following their divorce. He was, by far, the best man in his daughter’s life.
He left this life far too soon, and his absence is felt every day by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed for all time.
