In late January of 2025, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a feeling going into my mammogram that something was off and a few days after the ultrasound and biopsy, my diagnosis was confirmed.  My initial reaction was complete and utter fear, but after those feelings wore off, I knew I was ready to tackle this head on. I had surgery in mid February to remove the mass. My recovery from surgery went well and in April I started radiation, which was 4 1/2 weeks, 5 days a week. I successfully completed radiation in late May and will continue different forms of treatments for the next 5 years.

The Lansdowne Swim Club has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old. It was where I learned to swim (thanks, Mr. Grube!), it’s the first team I was ever a part of, it’s where I formed lifelong friendships and so so much more.  When my LSC friends heard of my diagnosis, I was instantly embraced with support and love.

The calls, texts, gift cards, food, encouragement, get well cards, and check-ins, were beyond generous and more than my family could have ever asked for. Coach Tara reiterates every year that we are not just a team, we are a family….and I felt that more than ever these past few months.  I am so honored to be recognized for this year’s Swim-a-Thon and I can’t thank you all enough for your continuing support. LANE 3 AAHHHHHH and ALWAYS!!
